Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele is reportedly in contact with Liverpool over a possible Bosman move in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Ousmane Dembele has seen a new suitor emerge in his pursuit ahead of the summer transfer window. The Barcelona forward has popped up on the radar of Liverpool over a possible Bosman move amid uncertainties surrounding the futures of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah.
During his ongoing five-year stint at Camp Nou, Ousmane Dembele has been a polarising figure for Barcelona. The French international arrived at the Catalan club as one of the most promising young forwards in Europe, only for fitness issues to hamper his progress enormously. But Dembele has still shown his potential on the pitch more often than not.
The 25-year-old reached his lowest ebb as a Barcelona player in January, when Barcelona’s director of football Mateu Alemany announced that the two parties had reached a point of no return in contract renewal talks. But Dembele promptly won over the Barcelona fans by finishing the season with more assists than anyone else in La Liga this term (13) despite playing only 21 games.
However, Dembele’s Barcelona future remains up in the air, with recent reports claiming that he had rejected the latest contract offer from the Blaugrana. And the rampant uncertainties around the 2018 FIFA World Cup have captured the attention of some of the most high profile clubs in Europe, including Liverpool.
Liverpool might have to invest in a wide attacker in the summer transfer window, as Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah’s long-term futures remain unresolved. The two attacking stalwarts will see their respective Liverpool deals run out next year, with contract renewal talks dragging for an eternity.
Mane, coincidentally a target for Barcelona, looks the likelier candidate to leave Liverpool, with Bayern Munich reportedly closing in on securing his services. And his departure will leave the Reds needing a long-term replacement, bringing Barcelona forward Dembele into the picture.

With Barcelona’s hopes of retaining Dembele fading, Liverpool might be in contention to complete a Bosman move for the 25-year-old. But Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain are also keen on signing the French forward, and it will be interesting to see if his future is at FC Barcelona or elsewhere.
