As Antonio Conte seeks quality reinforcements, Tottenham have added AS Monaco midfielder Youssouf Fofana to their list of potential targets.

According to Tutto Mercato Web, Tottenham are interested in signing Youssouf Fofana in the summer transfer window, with Antonio Conte eyeing the 23-year-old AS Monaco midfielder to shore up his options. Spurs may have to replace a few players in the squad.

Tottenham are accelerating their transfer plans, but the club are still reportedly waiting on Antonio Conte’s definitive decision to be part of their future. Italian The manager’s stance will let them plan for next season after the club recently announced a cash injection, which will be available in the summer.

A few deals are to be made permanent such as Cristian Romero’s signing from Atalanta, while Dejan Kulusevski’s loan still has a year to go before his stay becomes permanent. Tottenham want to strengthen a few key areas in the summer, namely central defence and midfield, while also bringing in at least one attacker.

Sticking to the midfield requirement, Conte wants to use the transfer window to offload some existing stars and bring in new ones that will elevate the quality of the squad. A few options, such as Yves Bissouma, have been discussed by Tottenham, but alternatives have also been considered if the Malian decides against the move.

Meanwhile, Tottenham will look to offload Giovanni Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele permanently after the duo exited the club in January on temporary deals. They have also put Harry Winks for sale, and are demanding at least £25 million for the English midfielder.

The idea is to find a replacement who would be ready to play a crucial role in the upcoming season. The quality of the player will have to be better than the current options to become a key part of Tottenham’s future. Kalvin Phillips has been discussed, but the Leeds United midfielder will cost nearly £60 million in the current market.

Youssouf Fofana’s name has emerged recently, and the AS Monaco midfielder could become a target for Spurs. The French midfielder has been effective for Monaco this season, racking up 46 appearances in all competitions. While he is primarily a central midfielder, the 23-year-old can also effectively play a defensive role.

Often overshadowed this season by star prospect Aurelien Tchouameni, Fofana has become an important member of the Ligue 1 side. He will improve Tottenham’s midfield and give them a decent outlet in the middle of the park.

Much will depend on Monaco’s asking price, which is generally high for talented players coming out of their stable. While Fofana is yet to gain prominence on the international level, the 23-year-old’s performances could soon accelerate his entry into the French national side or Mali, for whom he is eligible to play.

Tottenham may find this summer to be the right time to strike a deal, as Fofana will have two years left on his current contract. Monaco’s asking price may entice or deter Tottenham’s prospect of signing the midfielder.
