Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a €60 million bid for RB Leipzig starlet Christopher Nkunku, a target for Chelsea.

According to a report from Sky Sports, Manchester United are ready to make their first move in the pursuit of Christopher Nkunku. Ralf Rangnick has campaigned hard for the RB Leipzig starlet, and new coach Erik ten Hag is also impressed with the Chelsea target following his performances in the Bundesliga.

Manchester United are expected to follow up with their interest by launching a bid of around €60 million next week. The Premier League giants believe it should be enough to convince Leipzig to cash in on their star player, who has been one of the best performers in Europe this season.

In 51 competitive matches for Leipzig this season, Nkunku has racked up 35 goals and 20 assists. It makes him one of the most productive players in Europe, with his contributions helping Leipzig secure a top-four finish in the Bundesliga while reaching the UEFA Europa League semi-finals.

Aside from his productivity, Nkunku has made an impression with his ability to create chances in the final third. He has also shown a great tactical nous while his versatility of operating as a wide player, a number ten and even as a false nine has made him an appealing target for clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea.

The Red Devils are expecting a mass exodus in the upcoming summer transfer window. Jesse Lingard is set to leave Manchester United on a free transfer and is reportedly closing in on a move to West Ham United. The same can be said for Juan Mata, thus creating a void in the creative unit.

Erik ten Hag is looking to fill that void by bringing in Christopher Nkunku in the summer. The Frenchman would be an ideal attacking partner for Bruno Fernandes and Jadon Sancho. The trio could cause problems to the opposing defences in the Premier League next season, offering adequate support for star striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

Aside from Manchester United, Chelsea are also considering a swoop for the French international in the coming summer. The Blues are keen on adding more creativity in the final third, especially with Christian Pulisic facing an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge.

However, the report indicates RB Leipzig have no intention to offload Christopher Nkunku. Their CEO is determined to keep hold of their star player and attempt to launch a title challenge to Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund next season.

Leipzig are expected to negotiate with Nkunku over a potential renewal. They will try to lure the Frenchman by adding a release clause in the deal, thus allowing the player to leave after a year rather than committing his future at the club. But it remains to be seen if Manchester United or Chelsea can convince Nkunku to move to England.
