Manchester United are currently scouring the market for a new goalkeeper amid speculations linking Dean Henderson to a move away from the club. The Englishman is not happy with his lack of game-time at Old Trafford and wants to continue his career elsewhere, amid interest from Newcastle United.

Henderson’s potential exit could leave new coach Erik ten Hag with David de Gea as his only reliable option in goal. As such, the Dutchman is eyeing a reinforcement and that is where Giorgi Mamardashvili comes into the fray.

The 21-year-old Georgian starlet has shown immense potential in La Liga and is regarded as one of the best goalkeeping talents in Europe. He could prove to be an ideal understudy for de Gea, who is currently in the final phase of his career and is unlikely to remain at Old Trafford for the long term.

It could pave the way for Mamardashvili to groom himself into an ideal long-term replacement for the Spaniard. But given the way Henderson struggled with lack of game-time, the youngster might think twice before joining Manchester United, especially with Valencia willing to commit to another new deal that could see his release clause being raised to €30 million.

  1. It is good for Manchester United to go for Georgi Mamardashvili as a future GK to succeed DeGea when he retires or moves back to Spain to complete his football journey and retirement.
Dean Henderson does not exude confidence as a deputy and has fumbled largely when called upon.
With Mamardashvili, age is in his advantage and a good physique as attributes, he could bd groomed to be a great goalkeeper for many years to come.
To prepare for the future early is always a good solution rather than scramble at the last minute and pay massive transfer fees and wages to prise someone from a successful career.
