Premier League side Everton are reportedly interested in signing on-loan Chelsea prospect Levi Colwill.

As per a report by The Sun, Everton boss Frank Lampard is preparing a move for young Chelsea centre-back Levi Colwill. The 19-year-old is currently on loan at Huddersfield and has played a crucial role in their run to the EFL Championship play-offs final.

Everton are hoping Lampard’s relationship with his former club Chelsea would aid their move for the young prospect. The Toffees are planning a loan move for the teenager, who has made 31 appearances for Huddersfield across competitions.

Colwill is expected to return to Chelsea upon the completion of his loan spell but may still have to spend some time on the sidelines before he breaks into the Blues’ first XI.

Everton, who closely avoided relegation, will provide regular Premier League football to the defender, which could go a long way in his development. As per the report, Crystal Palace have also shown interest in the teenager, but they too may not be able to offer him regular first-team football.

The 19-year-old has been likened to Chelsea legend John Terry and he doesn’t seem fazed by such comparisons. “I’ll take it, I’m not going to complain. It’s not a bad thing to be called the new John Terry,” he said.

“I haven’t made the comparison myself so the fans and media can make whatever comparisons they want to make, it isn’t going to affect me. John Terry is a club legend and leader, someone every centre-back at Chelsea should look up to. A great guy and player,” the Chelsea prospect added.

Everton have had a dismal season and narrowly avoided relegation by registering a last-gasp 3-2 win over Crystal Palace on the penultimate matchday of the Premier League term. They are set to finish 15th or 16th depending upon the result in the final match of their season against Arsenal.

The Toffees conceded 61 goals in the league this term, and improving their defence ahead of the next season is high on their priority list, which they could address by landing Colwill from Chelsea. Everton have been linked with forwards as well, with the likes of Memphis Depay and Amine Gouiri among those emerging on their radar.
