Barcelona might look to sign Serge Gnabry in a Bosman move in 2023, but they could launch the offensive for him this season if Ousmane Dembele leaves.

According to a report by Catalunya Radio, Serge Gnabry’s future at Bayern Munich remains up in the air heading into the summer transfer window, with Barcelona keenly following his situation. The Catalan giants are considering signing the 26-year-old German international in a Bosman move in 2023.

Serge Gnabry seemed to be a prodigious prospect wasting his talent during his days at Arsenal, reaching his lowest ebb in England during a loan spell with West Bromwich Albion. But the player has established himself as one of the most enterprising forwards in Europe since establishing a foothold at Bayern Munich.

The 26-year-old has amassed 64 goals and 40 assists in 171 appearances for Bayern Munich thus far. But the Bundesliga champions are in a spot of bother over the German international’s long-term future, with his contract set to run out next year. Such a situation has captured the attention of several European bigwigs, including Barcelona.

The interest from Barcelona stems from the rampant uncertainties surrounding the future of Ousmane Dembele. The French international will see his contract expire next month, and the Catalan giants are trying to negotiate a new deal with him before June 30.

Recent reports have claimed that Barcelona’s hopes of keeping hold of Dembele are rising, with the 2018 FIFA World Cup inclined towards staying put at Camp Nou. But several high profile clubs across Europe are trying to convince Dembele to leave Barcelona and join them in a Bosman move instead.

Bavarian giants Bayern Munich are also interested in Dembele, and the Frenchman’s arrival at the Allianz Arena could see another wide attacker departing. While Barcelona might look to sign Gnabry in a Bosman move in 2023 if his contract standoff with Bayern continues, they will launch the offensive for the 26-year-old German international this year if Dembele leaves.

According to widespread reports, Gnabry might be open to a new challenge, boosting Barcelona’s hopes of signing him. But a move for the 26-year-old hinges solely on Dembele’s decision, and it will be interesting to see if the French forward remains at FC Barcelona beyond the summer transfer window.
