Barcelona defender Sergino Dest has reportedly been offered to Manchester United over a move in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by 90 min, Manchester United will have the chance to sign Sergino Dest in the summer transfer window. The USMNT international does not have a future at Barcelona, and intermediaries are trying to find him a new club, with Chelsea and Tottenham also in contention to land him.

Sergino Dest joined Barcelona from Ajax in October 2020 and has since made gradual progress. While the youngster has shown promising signs in his two seasons with the Blaugrana, he has also blown hot and cold, prompting Xavi Hernandez to rotate him heavily, especially following Dani Alves’s return.

The 21-year-old has turned out 72 times for Barcelona, chipping in with three goals and four assists. But despite not being the undisputed first-choice right-back for Barcelona, Dest’s stock remains high, and a move to the Premier League could be on the cards. Intermediaries have offered the USMNT international to Manchester United, who are considering a summer move.

Manchester United will likely delve into the market for a right-back in the summer transfer window amid rising uncertainties surrounding the future of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. The former Crystal Palace defender has seen his stock plummet this season, and widespread reports have claimed that the Eagles want to re-sign him ahead of the 2022/23 season.

In addition, Diogo Dalot is also linked with a possible summer exit, with AS Roma keen on signing him. But Dalot will likely stay put at Manchester United beyond the summer transfer window. However, Wan-Bissaka’s possible departure will prompt Manchester United to invest in a right-back, with Dest emerging as a viable target.

The Red Devils are now considering signing the Barcelona defender following the offer from the intermediaries. But Manchester United could face stiff competition from Chelsea and Tottenham in the race to sign Dest, who has also emerged on the radars of several other European bigwigs, including Bayern Munich.

As for the interest from Manchester United, it will be interesting to see if a move materialises. Incoming manager Erik ten Hag has previously managed the Barcelona defender at Ajax, and reuniting with the Dutchman might just help the 21-year-old resurrect his stuttering career.
