West Ham United are reportedly interested in Wolfsburg winger Josip Brekalo, with the German side asking for a €10 million fee from suitors.

According to Calciomercato.it, West Ham United are interested in Josip Brekalo, who could be available for €10 million in the summer. Wolfsburg are keen on selling the Croatian as he enters the final year of his deal.

Josip Brekalo is currently on loan at Serie A side Torino from Wolfsburg and has been a revelation in Italy. The 23-year-old Croatian has scored seven goals and provided two assists in 31 league games, becoming one of the rising stars in Turin.

Despite his bright performances, Torino have decided against exercising their buy-option clause attached to the loan deal that could have let them sign the winger permanently. Wolfsburg had a €10 million price inserted in the agreement and the Italian side looked to negotiate and bring the demand down after the clause expired on May 15.

Wolfsburg are keen on earning the €10 million they originally inserted in the loan agreement with Torino, jeopardising a possible permanent move to Italy.

Now, West Ham United are seemingly keen on Brekalo and may be willing to meet the price tag. The Hammers are looking at attacking reinforcements after struggling with a thin squad. They competed on multiple fronts, including the Europa League, as David Moyes somehow manoeuvred his team despite the pressure on limited players.

As part of their plan to reinforce their attack, West Ham are also targeting Andrea Belotti on a free transfer and could be looking to reunite him with a teammate from Torino.

From a sporting perspective, Brekalo could replace Andriy Yarmolenko, who will be leaving on a free transfer this summer. Moyes is also looking at some high-profile options, such as Memphis Depay from Barcelona, although signing the Dutchman could be a costly affair.

Brekalo has age on his side to develop his game, and Moyes has a recent reputation for helping youngsters improve. As for his price tag, it certainly falls in West Ham’s range as Wolfsburg will be happy to do business for their €10 million demand. But with Atletico Madrid, Eintracht Frankfurt and Southampton also keen, West Ham will need to act quickly to sign Brekalo.
