Fulham are reportedly ready to make a move for Neco Williams, with Liverpool valuing the defender at around £12 million.

A recent report from Football Insider has shed some light on the future of Neco Williams. The 21-year-old Liverpool defender has enjoyed a bright loan spell at Fulham, thus convincing the London giants to make a permanent move for him in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Liverpool, though, have no intention to let their defender leave the club for a cut-price fee and are holding out for a fee of £12 million for the services of the right-back. Fulham have already initiated their quest to sign the Welshman permanently, but it remains to be seen whether they are willing to meet Liverpool’s demands.

A product of the Liverpool youth academy, Neco Williams joined Fulham on a short-term loan deal in the January transfer window. He left Anfield in search of regular game-time after playing second fiddle to Trent Alexander-Arnold throughout the first half of the campaign.

Williams did not disappoint either, becoming an instant hit under Marco Silva. During his six months at the club, the 21-year-old right-back has become a defensive lynchpin, racking up 14 league appearances and being involved in a total of four goals.

The Welsh international’s services have been critical in helping Fulham win the EFL Championship and secure promotion back to the Premier League. Buoyed by his success at Fulham, it appears the defender has asked Liverpool to remain at Craven Cottage and join the London club on a permanent deal.

Instead of continuing to play second fiddle to Alexander-Arnold at Anfield, Neco Williams wants to remain at Fulham and try his luck at becoming a first-team regular in the Premier League. He has already shown a lot of promise this year, and Marco Silva will be hoping the youngster can replicate his performances in the top flight.

While Liverpool are not averse to offloading him at the end of the season, they want to generate a sizable transfer revenue from his sale. The Reds, after all, will need to sign a new right-back who can serve as an understudy for Alexander-Arnold next season.

Liverpool have targeted Aberdeen youngster Calvin Ramsay, who is likely to be brought in as a replacement for Neco Williams in a deal worth £4 million.

    £12m is a giveaway.

As usual we sell our players for far less than would be demanded from us if the situation was reversed.
