Manchester City are open to letting Raheem Sterling leave as they could get a transfer fee in the next window, with Arsenal and Newcastle United keen.

According to Fichajes, Raheem Sterling could be allowed to leave Manchester City in the summer as he enters the final year of his contract. Arsenal and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in the forward, as the Premier League champions are hoping to get a reasonable transfer fee for the winger in the summer window.

Raheem Sterling has been a sensational signing for Manchester City, as he became an integral part of Pep Guardiola’s revolution in the Premier League. The England international has won four league titles during his seven-year stay at the Etihad.

The forward has contributed 130 goals and 93 assists in 337 senior games for the club, which puts him in the bracket of top-draw attackers in England and Europe. But he could be on the verge of leaving the club during a period when he enters the prime of his career.

Manchester City and Sterling have been at a crossroads for some time. The fact that Guardiola has not guaranteed him starts this season has irked the forward, leading him to rethink his future. Moreover, the two parties have not agreed on a new contract, with Sterling’s demands probably hampering the extension.

With Sterling considering leaving on a free transfer in 2023, the Premier League champions have no choice but to sell the forward in the summer. Sterling will have a year left on his deal, and with strong interest coming in, Manchester City will be hoping to get a significant transfer fee from suitors.

With Manchester City announcing the capture of Erling Haaland, there are plenty of players that could depart the club. Sterling could be joined by Gabriel Jesus through the exit door, alerting plenty of clubs of their availability. Arsenal are weighing up a move for Sterling as Mikel Arteta remains keen on bringing in a wide attacker and a central striker in the next window.

Arteta is also keen on Gabriel Jesus, and if the north London side could pull off a double raid on the Premier League champions, with Sterling also on their radar. Arsenal have players in the wide areas but there is a lack of quality depth. Arteta wants to create an atmosphere where players compete for places, and no one is guaranteed to start games, which is why he wants to add Sterling.

There is interest from Newcastle United, who are looking for a statement signing in the next window. The Magpies boast the financial muscle to conclude a deal for Sterling, but their inability to provide European football may become a problem.

Sterling is concerned about his irregular playing time at Manchester City, which is not to say he doesn’t feature at all. He has appeared 45 times this season, although many games were from the bench. He will be aiming to be sharp by playing week in and week out and feature prominently for England at the World Cup later this year. With City open to a sale, it remains to be seen where he ends up.
