West Ham United are considering making an approach for Josh Brownhill in the summer as David Moyes wants to strengthen his central midfield options.

According to 90 Min, West Ham United are keen on signing Josh Brownhill this summer and could move for the midfielder irrespective of what happens with Burnley at the end of the campaign. David Moyes wants to bring in robust options to strengthen his central midfield.

Josh Brownhill has proved to be one of those under the radar signings clubs tend to make from time to time. Burnley snapped up the midfielder from Bristol City in 2020, and he has become a key figure in the team. His recent goal against Watford could also prove crucial in the Clarets bid to stay up in the Premier League.

Brownhill has been a solid presence in the Burnley midfield, making 34 appearances across all competitions this term. As the Clarets are still in danger of relegation, the upcoming summer window might see them lose talents like Brownhill as clubs continue to circle.

West Ham United are reportedly in the hunt for a new midfielder, and Brownhill fits the criteria of a player required by David Moyes. The Hammers have pulled through with limited options in the position this season, as they manoeuvred through multiple competitions.

Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have been the preferred starters, as the Hammers have been fortunate enough that none of them suffered any mid to long-term injuries this season. West Ham were keen on signing Kalvin Phillips in the January window, only for Leeds United to reject their advances.

West Ham are also exploring other names, such as Salih Ozcan of 1. FC Koln, who has a similar profile to Brownhill. The Burnley man represents Premier League quality and has the experience to go with after two good seasons under former Burnley boss Sean Dyche.

The Hammers are also keeping tabs on Thiago Mendes, could be a considerably costly option to Brownhill. The midfielder could come at a cut-price deal if Burnley are relegated. Irrespective of their Premier League status, the Clarets could lose their player to rival clubs in the summer.

Moyes could view Brownhill as the ideal option in midfield as a replacement for long-serving captain Mark Noble, who will retire at the end of the season. It remains to be seen whether the Hammers are the only club vying for the 26-year-old midfielder, as there could be others coming into the mix as the season ends.
