Newly-promoted Fulham are interested in Jesse Lingard, who will be available on a free transfer, with Newcastle United and West Ham United also keen.

According to Rudy Galetti, there is considerable interest from Premier League sides in Jesse Lingard in the summer. The Manchester United star will be a free agent when his contract expires at the end of the season, and Fulham have become the latest team to express admiration.

It has barely been days since Fulham were promoted back to the Premier League after yet another season in the Championship. The London club suffered plenty of disappointments recently for their incapability to cement a place in the English top-flight.

One of the main reasons was the lack of quality players in the squad, even when they were playing in the top flight. The Championship winners are already planning for their next season, with several signings expected in the summer.

One of the top names they are linked to is Jesse Lingard, who will be one of the focus of the transfer windows. The Manchester United academy graduate will depart the club after more than 20 years on the books. There have been multiple problems with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick, who have rarely picked him this season.

The 29-year-old has only managed 22 appearances across all competitions, which mostly came off the bench. There was more controversy after Manchester United’s last home game of the season against Brentford when Lingard was not given a farewell appearance, with the decision dividing many of the club’s fans.

Newcastle United are tipped to sign Lingard after Manchester United rejected their advances late in the January window. The Magpies manager, Eddie Howe, is keen on adding the England international and to that end, the club are believed to have held negotiations with his camp.

West Ham United, too, remain in the picture after failing to sign the 29-year-old last summer. Lingard spent the second half of the last season on loan with the Hammers. So, a return to east London could appeal to the Manchester United academy graduate. However, both Newcastle and West Ham will have to battle Fulham in their bid to sign Lingard.

With Fabio Carvalho departing for Liverpool, there is a space for an attacking midfielder to arrive at Craven Cottage and Lingard could be that man. Newcastle United and West Ham United will put their best foot forward in trying to sign the attacker. However, at Fulham, he could be an undisputed starter next season.

Despite significant interest from abroad, Lingard is understandably keen on remaining in the Premier League to boost his chances of representing England at the World Cup later this year. So, it remains to be seen who among Newcastle, West Ham or Fulham can clinch the Manchester United star’s signing come summer.
