Crystal Palace have reportedly added Ibrahim Sangare to their summer wishlist as Patrick Vieira wants significant changes to his midfield unit.

According to The Sun, Patrick Vieira wants to bring Ibrahim Sangare to the Selhurst Park in the summer transfer window, with Crystal Palace keen on changing their midfield options. The 24-year-old PSV Eindhoven midfielder could emerge as their top defensive midfield target, although the Londoners also have other options in mind.

Patrick Vieira has taken strides to improve the current Crystal Palace side from last season. The Frenchman’s arrival last summer brought favourable and fresh ideas to the table, which has seen the team progress on multiple fronts.

Vieira’s transfer policy of signing young stars has worked in their favour, and the Crystal Palace boss looks to continue the trend in the coming window. The manager wants to improve the midfield unit drastically and wishes to bring in players of a certain age profile with the right attributes.

The Frenchman will focus his efforts to sign a holding midfielder that provides a much-needed base to their central area. Cheikhou Kouyate has been solid for most parts of the season. But with the Senegalese international’s contract expiring in the summer, there could be a chance to change things around at Crystal Palace.

Moreover, James McArthur is not getting any younger, and his advancing years may not favour Vieira in the long run. As a result, Crystal Palace have sights on Lens midfielder Cheick Doucoure, and the Frenchman could prove an inexpensive acquisition.

Crystal Palace are reportedly closing in on signing Doucoure. But if someone else of a similar profile crops up, they could switch their attention. PSV Eindhoven’s Ibrahim Sangare is one such option, although the Ivorian will be an expensive candidate compared to the Lens midfielder.

Sangare has become a key part of the PSV side battling Ajax for the Eredivisie title. The 24-year-old has featured in 46 games across all competitions, becoming a steady presence in the Dutch side’s midfield. Sangare continues to attract the interest of Premier League clubs who want to bring him to England this summer.

Aston Villa and West Ham United are seemingly interested in the 24-year-old holding midfielder, and now Crystal Palace have entered the chase.

It’s unclear as to who among Sangare and Doucoure will Crystal Palace prefer. From a financial standpoint, it could be the latter. The PSV star might command a £30 million fee, and the Dutch side are unwilling to let go of the 24-year-old midfielder on the cheap, considering he has a contract until 2025.

Vieira will be keen on signing the 24-year-old, as he believes Sangare would provide a steady base in the Crystal Palace midfield for next season. There could be a transfer tussle brewing in the background if the other interested clubs remain keen on recruiting the Ivorian in the summer.
