AS Roma are reportedly targeting Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka for a potential move in the summer transfer window.

As per The Sun, AS Roma manager Jose Mourinho is once again looking towards the Premier League for a potential signing. This time, Manchester United right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka is on the Portuguese tactician’s agenda after the Serie A giants benefitted heavily from Tammy Abraham’s signing last summer.

Wan-Bissaka’s Manchester United future is still unclear with the impending arrival of new manager Erik ten Hag. The 24-year-old defender is reportedly waiting to get a clearer picture of his role at the club under the Dutch tactician before taking a call on his next move.

The 24-year-old, who arrived at Old Trafford from Crystal Palace in 2019, has had a tough couple of seasons with the club. This term, especially, has been quite difficult for Wan-Bissaka, with Diogo Dalot getting the nod ahead of him more often than not. In all competitions, he has made 26 appearances for Manchester United across competitions this season.

With a new manager soon arriving, Wan-Bissaka’s time at Old Trafford could be cut short even with two years remaining on his contract after the current season. The defender’s last club, Crystal Palace, are said to be interested in having him back, but only on a loan deal. But Manchester United could rather be interested in a permanent deal as they prepare to invest in other positions.

AS Roma have emerged as an unlikely destination for the Manchester United defender. Wan-Bissaka will join compatriots Tammy Abraham and Chris Smalling at the Serie A club. The former Chelsea forward has been a hit in Rome, scoring 24 goals across all competitions this season while attracting several bigwigs, including Manchester United. But Roma are not the only other club interested in Wan-Bissaka.

According to The Sun, Atletico Madrid are also monitoring the 24-year-old’s situation at Manchester United and could make a summer move for him. The Rojiblancos are still looking for a permanent replacement for Kieran Trippier, who left the Spanish side for Newcastle United earlier this year.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Wan-Bissaka. For now, he can only hope that ten Hag has a role for him in his system. Otherwise, a move to Serie A or La Liga could well be on the cards for the struggling Manchester United defender.
