Arsenal are making concerted efforts to sign Moussa Diaby, with Bayer Leverkusen demanding around €75 million for their flying winger.

According to Sport Bild (h/t Sport Witness), Arsenal are interested in bringing Moussa Diaby in the summer, with the Gunners making some serious efforts to sign the winger. Bayer Leverkusen do not want to sell the forward for anything less than €75 million, which will concern the north Londoners in the next window.

Moussa Diaby has shown great consistency in delivering good performances in consecutive seasons. The French attacker has developed a lethal side to his game, which has yielded him 16 goals across all competitions in the ongoing campaign, along with 13 assists.

In the previous season, Diaby managed ten goals and 15 assists in 43 appearances, and the consistency in his displays has attracted sizeable attention from Premier League clubs. Liverpool were interested earlier, as Jurgen Klopp sought a player to replace Mohamed Salah in the event of the Egyptian departing in the summer.

West Ham have also been linked with a move, although Bayer Leverkusen’s €75 million asking fees may have put off the London side. Arsenal’s name is being dragged into the picture, with claims the Gunners are making serious efforts to sign the French winger.

There are plenty of situations at Arsenal that could justify the links to Diaby. Mikel Arteta is primarily searching for a striker, with several names mentioned for the role. The Gunners are also looking to sign a wide player, as the manager wants a fluid attack in place before next season.

Arteta’s desire to offload Nicolas Pepe is no secret, and with the Ivorian likely departing club in the summer, there will be a vacancy in the wide-attacking role. The Gunners seek a player to operate on the left-hand side and compete with Gabriel Martinelli, who could also play centrally next season.

There are strong links to PSV’s Cody Gakpo, who is a similar option to Diaby. Both players are young and hungry with the ambition to succeed. Arsenal’s chances of landing a player of Diaby’s quality will drastically increase if they qualify for next season’s Champions League. But the 22-year-old’s €75 million price tag could become prohibitive for the north London giants.
