Real Madrid will not launch the offensive to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba in a Bosman move this summer, as per Gianluca Di Marzio.

According to reputed Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, as quoted by Defensa Central, Paul Pogba will not move to Real Madrid after leaving Manchester United as a free agent in the summer transfer window. The Merengues have other plans for the window, with defence and attack their priority areas to address.

Paul Pogba has endured an underwhelming second stint with Manchester United since returning to Old Trafford from Juventus in August 2016. While the French international has shown that he can change the course of a game on his own, he has let inconsistency creep into his game far too often.

The 29-year-old has gone through similar issues this term, as he started the campaign by grabbing assist after assist. But Pogba’s tally for the term is a sub-par one goal and nine assists in 27 outings thus far. And with the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s Manchester United contract expiring next month, his stint with Manchester United will likely end. Such a situation has seen him get linked with Real Madrid.

Recent reports had claimed that Real Madrid had been planning talks with Pogba over a Bosman move in the summer transfer window. The suggestions made sense, considering Isco will leave Real Madrid as a free agent ahead of the 2022/23 season, while Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are getting closer to the end of their respective careers.

In Pogba, Real Madrid could have had a one-stop solution to bolster their midfield unit, seeing as he thrives in a role with creative freedom. But it looks like the Merengues are rejecting the chance to sign the Manchester United midfielder, as per reputed transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian journalist has suggested that Pogba could yet stay put at Manchester United, as only the Red Devils can afford to pay his enormous wages. In addition, Real Madrid’s focus is on other areas, with reinforcing the defensive and attacking units taking priority over midfield.

Di Marzio has asserted that Pogba is not even a choice for Real Madrid, which is understandable, considering Dani Ceballos has enjoyed a turnaround in the last few weeks. So it will be interesting to see what the future holds for Pogba, with Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain also linked with the Manchester United midfielder.
