Arsenal are reportedly ready to step up their pursuit of Alvaro Morata and are willing to fork out €30 million to sign the Spaniard this summer.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Arsenal are ready to give Juventus a run for their money in the race to sign Alvaro Morata. The 29-year-old Atletico Madrid striker, currently on loan in Turin, has emerged as one of the top targets for Mikel Arteta, as the Spaniard looks to shore up his options in the goalscoring department.

Morata is expected to return to Atletico Madrid following the end of his loan deal. It appears Arsenal are ready to launch a €30 million bid, in an attempt to sign the Spanish international. Juventus, though, are also interested in a permanent deal for the former Real Madrid man.

The report suggests the Bianconeri are ready to offer Atleti a figure of around €15 million after spending €20 million during his two-year loan spell at the club. Atletico Madrid are yet to make a clear stance on this issue, but they are likely to offload the 29-year-old in the summer despite the departure of Luis Suarez.

Morata is regarded as one of the best strikers in Spanish football. But it is fair to say the former Real Madrid starlet has never been able to hit the heights of his first spell at Juventus and has often lacked consistency in his game.

Nevertheless, the Spanish international has racked up eight goals in Serie A this term and has been involved in almost 20 goals in all competitions. His numbers are quite reasonable for a striker who could be valued at around the €30-40 million mark.

Arsenal, for one, rate the Spaniard highly due to his vast experience at the highest level of football, coupled with his technical and positional sense, which goes hand in hand with Mikel Arteta’s tactical philosophy. Morata also brings aerial dominance in the final third, making him an ideal fit for the Arsenal setup at the Emirates.

Having lost Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in January, the Gunners are on the hunt for a new striker this summer, especially with Alexandre Lacazette also running out his contract at the end of the season. At the same time, Eddie Nketiah could leave Arsenal as well, amid interest from Crystal Palace.

Alvaro Morata fits the bill for Arsenal perfectly due to his previous experience in English football coupled with his technical superiority. The 29-year-old Spanish international is unlikely to cost a fortune either, making him an ideal coup for the Premier League giants, as they gear up for an attacking overhaul.
