Borussia Dortmund are ready to go head to head with Manchester United in the race to sign Sebastien Haller.

According to a report from Fichajes, Sebastien Haller has become one of the most sought-after players in Europe with multiple clubs interested in his services. Manchester United are among the teams closely monitoring his situation at Ajax, with Erik ten Hag reportedly keen on a potential reunion at Old Trafford next season.

However, Manchester United are facing fierce competition from Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Haller. With Erling Haaland likely to join Manchester City ahead of the new season, the German giants are currently scouring the market for lethal centre-forwards and it appears the Ajax striker tops their list of options.

Although the Black and Yellows have also been linked with a move for Chelsea forward Timo Werner, they believe Haller could be a much more logical option. Formerly of Eintracht Frankfurt, the Ivorian offers the physical and aerial qualities that are quite synonymous with Haaland’s strengths.

Although Haller might not offer the same pace and intensity, he can make up for it with his goalscoring prowess. Since joining Ajax at the start of last year, the French-Ivorian striker has racked up as many as 46 goals in just 62 competitive appearances, with eleven of his goals coming in the UEFA Champions League this term.

Borussia Dortmund believe Haller can replicate the scoring form in the Bundesliga. After all, he had immense success at Eintracht Frankfurt, scoring 33 goals in 77 appearances before joining West Ham United.

Despite Haller’s struggles at West Ham United, he has managed to redeem himself and is now a target not only for Borussia Dortmund but also Manchester United, who are not deterred by his poor numbers in the Premier League.

Manchester United’s new coach ten Hag knows the player well, having nurtured his goalscoring traits at Ajax and could now convince the player to move with him to Old Trafford. The Ivorian would likely replace the departing Edinson Cavani and accompany Cristiano Ronaldo in the Manchester United frontline next season.

The prospect of playing with Ronaldo and reuniting with ten Hag could be an opportunity too good to turn down for Haller. But the striker also has fond memories in the Bundesliga and could relish the opportunity to become Haaland’s successor at Dortmund. So, it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the 27-year-old this summer.
