Barcelona have reportedly submitted an improved contract offer for Ousmane Dembele which is closer to the winger’s €20 million demands.

According to Foot Mercato, Barcelona have made an increased contract offer for Ousmane Dembele as they look to sort out the winger’s future at the earliest possible.

Dembele has been the talk of the town for a long time now due to his contract situation at Barcelona. The 24-year-old’s current deal runs out at the end of the season. Talks over an extension had stalled completely in January after the winger refused multiple proposals from the club as they did not meet his demands.

In the aftermath of that, it looked like Dembele would definitely be on his way out at the end of the season. But there has been a dramatic turnaround in the situation since then. Despite his contract situation, manager Xavi Hernandez backed Dembele and gave him chances on the field, and the attacker has repaid the faith shown by some scintillating displays.

The 42-year-old Barcelona legend has always maintained that he wants Dembele to stay at the club. And in light of his recent performances, the Catalans approached the Frenchman’s agent last month to reopen negotiations. The two parties met in Marrakesh to restart talks. Although, not much progress was achieved.

However, on Wednesday, Barcelona met with Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko again. And as per the report, the Blaugrana have reportedly proposed a new contract offer closer to the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner’s demands of €20 million.

That being said, there is still no final agreement between Dembele and Barcelona. The Frenchman reportedly already has a verbal agreement with PSG even though he has never ruled out continuing at Camp Nou. The French giants, though, are planning to restart negotiations over a move imminently, which could put Barça in a tricky position.

As iterated earlier, manager Xavi wants Dembele to continue at the club. The Frenchman, too, is open to the possibility of staying put but will not accept lower terms to make it happen. More talks will take place between Barcelona and the forward’s agent as the two parties try to come to an agreement at the earliest. If not, the 24-year-old is unlikely to have any shortage of suitors come summer.
