Tammy Abraham may be open to returning to the Premier League, with Chelsea and Arsenal reportedly seeking to sign the English international.

According to SPORT, Arsenal and Chelsea target Tammy Abraham could be open to returing to the Premier League in the summer after a hugely successful season at AS Roma. The English international will be a costly acquisition given his contract length and goalscoring form.

Chelsea decided to let Tammy Abraham leave for AS Roma last summer and later went on to sign Romelu Lukaku in a club-record deal. The Belgian striker has utterly flopped at Stamford Bridge this season, with many asking the question behind the wisdom to sell Abraham.

The English international has been a sensation at AS Roma, notching 24 goals across all competition. He also has four assists in Serie A, making him an all-around presence for the Giallorossi in the final third. However, Abraham could be yearning for a return to England, with interest still ripe from Premier League clubs.

Manchester United and Manchester City were recently credited with interest, but his potential price tag may have forced them to look elsewhere. Chelsea and Arsenal are also keen to bring the striker back to the English top-flight, as the London giants need reinforcements to the forward line.

Chelsea have a buyback option inserted in the agreement with Roma, which is set at a reported €80 million, although it will not get activated this summer. The Blues are open to bringing Abraham back to Stamford Bridge, despite only selling him last summer for half the value of the buyback clause.

Chelsea’s ability to buy or sell players in the next window depends on their ownership situation getting resolved. Meanwhile, Arsenal could step forward with a proposal to sign Abraham in the coming window. The Gunners were interested in the striker last summer, but their inability to clear out existing strikers forced them to bow out of a possible move.

The scenario in the summer is very different as Arsenal are eagerly in search of a new leading striker. Arsenal are set to make an offer for Gabriel Jesus and may look to bring in another forward other than the Brazilian to bolster Mikel Arteta’s attacking options.

Arsenal were reportedly looking to offer a handsome sum for the former Chelsea forward, but AS Roma could be asking for around €80 million to consider letting Abraham leave. The Serie A giants are in no rush to sanction a move, with the striker’s contract lasting until 2026.

Abraham could bring plenty of qualities to Arsenal, and Chelsea already have a fair idea of how the striker could improve their current problems in the final third. With Abraham prepared to return to the Premier League, it will be interesting to see if either London giant can land him in the summer.
