Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly expressed their desire to sign Bayern Munich forward Serge Gnabry, whose contract expires at the end of next season.

According to a report from Daily Star, Tottenham Hotspur have joined the race to sign Serge Gnabry. The Premier League giants are closely monitoring the situation of the former Arsenal forward, who is facing an uncertain future at Bayern Munich, with his current deal expiring at the end of next season.

Gnabry is currently asking Bayern to match the salary package of the two other wingers in the team: Kingsley Coman and Leroy Sane. But the Bavarians have appeared reluctant in meeting such demands, especially at a time when they also have to renew the contracts of other stars in the team, including Manuel Neuer, Thomas Muller and Robert Lewandowski.

Lewandowski has been already linked with a summer move to Barcelona, and many expect Gnabry to follow suit, with Tottenham on hand to take advantage of any opportunity.

With 63 goals and 40 assists in just 168 competitive appearances, Gnabry has been a consistent performer for Bayern Munich in recent years. The former Arsenal forward has established himself as one of the best wingers in Europe and with 13 goals, he is currently the second-highest goalscorer in the Bayern camp this term, most recently starring in the 3-1 win over Borussia Dortmund.

Gnabry’s trickery out wide, coupled with his productivity in the final third has forced Tottenham to consider a potential move in the summer. The Lilywhites are in the market for a new wide attacker as Antonio Conte looks to add more depth in his creative unit, following the success of Dejan Kulusevski.

Gnabry could be an excellent option for Tottenham due to his dynamic nature of football. He can potentially build a formidable creative trifecta alongside Kulusevski and Son Heung-min next season, offering support to Harry Kane. The German international has unfinished business in England as well, having failed to impress at Arsenal during the early stages of his career.

The only major stumbling block for Spurs, though, could be Gnabry’s love for Arsenal. Although the attacker was not deemed good enough to play for the Gunners, the player holds the club highly, so it is unlikely he would join their arch-rivals Tottenham this summer.

Moreover, Tottenham are not the only club involved in the race to sign Gnabry, who has become a target for Spanish giants Real Madrid, while Juventus and Liverpool are also involved in the equation. So it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the German international as he seeks to take the next step in his career this summer.
