Leeds United will challenge Liverpool for the signing of Aberdeen sensation Calvin Ramsey in the summer transfer window.

According to The Sun, Leeds United will challenge Liverpool in the race to land promising young Aberdeen sensation, Calvin Ramsay in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 18-year-old is one of the Scottish Premiership’s best young players and is already a regular for Aberdeen at the moment. Ramsay made his first-team bow for the Scottish giants in 2020 and has since made 38 appearances for the club, scoring once and assisting nine more times.

His performances have not gone unnoticed, with both Liverpool and Leeds keeping tabs. Both teams play attractive attacking football and place a huge onus on their full-backs to dominate at both ends of the football field.

Liverpool already have three excellent full-backs in Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andrew Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas. The Reds, however, lack a capable backup right-back and believe Ramsay is the man to serve as Alexander-Arnold’s understudy.

Available for around £3 million, the 18-year-old serves excellent value for money. The investment could prove to be peanuts should Ramsay fulfil his potential in the years to come. While a move to Anfield will aid in his development, it could see the youngster be forced to settle for lesser first-team minutes.

Alexander-Arnold is Liverpool’s first-choice right-back when fit, and with Joe Gomez also in the fray, Ramsay will need to bide his time and prove his worth. While the task is not easy, he will be afforded an opportunity to train with some of the best players in the world under Jurgen Klopp’s tutelage.

A move to Elland Road, however, presents him with an easier route to the senior XI. Luke Ayling and Stuart Dallas are both in their thirties and will need to be phased out sooner or later. Moreover, Jesse Marsch’s style will need them to play at full throttle, making rotation necessary.

Securing Ramsay’s signature will give the Whites a long-term solution to their right-back position. Marsch has a record of developing promising young players and could aid the Scottish sensation in improving his game. It appears to be a straight shootout between the two English sides for the teenager at this moment in time.
