Bayern Munich might be open to selling Serge Gnabry in the summer, handing Real Madrid a boost in pursuit of the 26-year-old German international.

According to a report by Spanish publication SPORT, Serge Gnabry has reached an impasse in contract renewal negotiations with Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions are prepared to cash in on the German international in the summer transfer window, with Real Madrid pursuing him.

Serge Gnabry has transformed from an inconsistent prospect to a highly productive attacker since joining Bayern Munich several years ago. The 26-year-old has been on a steady rise in stature in the last few years, wherein he has established himself as a pivotal figure for club and country.

The German international has enjoyed a solid 2021/22 campaign, amassing 15 goals and ten assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. But Gnabry’s contract situation has put Bayern Munich in a spot of bother, with his deal running out in a little over a year. Such a situation has captured the attention of Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants are poised to sign one top-class attacker in Kylian Mbappe in the summer transfer window. But Real Madrid might need to invest in another forward ahead of the 2022/23 season, considering multiple players face an uncertain future at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Gnabry could be an option to replace Eden Hazard, with the Belgian international at the lowest ebb of his professional career. Recent reports have claimed that there are “loose contacts” between Real Madrid and Gnabry, with former Bayern Munich teammate David Alaba pushing Los Blancos to pursue the 26-year-old German international.

Gnabry is also open to leaving Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window, even though his priority has always been to stay put at the Allianz Arena. But contract talks between the two parties have broken down, with the Bavarian giants unwilling to hand him the terms he is demanding. Such a development has handed Real Madrid a boost.

It is unclear if the Merengues will pay Gnabry the wages he is demanding, but Bayern Munich’s changed stance sure comes as a positive update. It will be interesting to see if Gnabry’s stint with Bayern Munich will end in the summer transfer window and if Real Madrid will snap up the 26-year-old German international.
