Everton forward Richarlison is prepared to leave the Merseyside club amid interest from Premier League giants Manchester United.

According to Football Insider, Everton’s Brazilian forward Richarlison has asked his agent to find a new club for him ahead of the next season, amid interest from Manchester United. The 24-year-old wants to move on from the Toffees and compete for silverware.

Richarlison moved to England with Watford in the 2017 summer transfer window and was snapped up by Everton a year later. He scored five and assisted five in 41 appearances for the Hornets across competitions, which was enough to convince the Toffees board to sign him.

The Brazilian has been one of Everton’s most important players since his arrival at Goodison Park and has arguably been their best player in a turbulent 2021/22 season. He has scored seven and assisted four goals in 26 appearances this term.

The Toffees are involved in a relegation battle and are currently 17th in the Premier League table. They have just three points more than 18th-placed Burnley but have a match in hand. Everton require a massive summer overhaul and Richarlison realises that he will need to move to greener pastures to stand a chance of winning silverware.

The 24-year-old has thus asked his agent to look for potential suitors. Among other Premier League clubs, Manchester United have also been linked with the forward. With question marks lingering over the futures of Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcus Rashford, the Mancunian giants need to reinforce their frontline in the summer.

But the Red Devils are likely to miss out on Champions League football next season, which could hamper their pursuit of the Brazilian. Richarlison will have two years remaining on his contract after the ongoing season, and Everton might want to cash in on him this summer if he pushes for an exit. The two parties have held contract talks but the forward doesn’t seem likely to extend his stay at the club.

In all, the 24-year-old has scored 49 goals and provided 13 assists in 145 appearances for Everton across competitions. The Toffees could thus demand a considerable transfer fee if any club approaches them with an offer for Richarlison. While his desire to leave Goodison Park comes as a boost for Manchester United, it remains to be seen if the ex-Watford man would be open to moving to Old Trafford.
