Chelsea are keeping tabs on Juventus star Adrien Rabiot ahead of the summer transfer window

According to Fichajes, Premier League giants Chelsea are keeping close tabs on French international Adrien Rabiot as we head into the 2022 summer transfer window.

The Juventus star is primarily a central midfielder also capable of playing on the left. Although he is a regular for the Bianconeri, Rabiot is a player who divides opinion. Spectacular on his day, he is equally capable of going AWOL.

Still just 27, he is in the prime of his career and could turn into a consistent performer under the right manager. Thomas Tuchel and Rabiot worked together at Paris Saint-Germain, and the Chelsea boss managed to get the best out of his French star.

A reunion could be on the cards in London should Rabiot move to Stamford Bridge. Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri is not opposed to a sale, and a deal could be worked out between both clubs in the coming months.

The trio of N’Golo Kante, Jorginho and Mateo Kovacic provide the Blues with an experienced midfield roster that can stand up to the best in the game. Kante is not getting any younger, while Jorginho lacks pace and can be caught out at times.

While Saul Niguez does add strength in numbers, he has failed to impress during his loan spell at Stamford Bridge. There is little reason for Chelsea to make his deal permanent, and it will come as little surprise if the Spaniard returns to Atletico Madrid in the summer.

This leaves a spot open for Rabiot to move to London. The Frenchman is a mobile player who is an upgrade over Jorginho and will add much energy in the middle of the pitch. There is every reason to believe that Tuchel can once again coax the best out of the 27-year-old who promised so much at the Parc des Princes.

As things stand, Chelsea are in no position to bring in players thanks to the sanctions imposed by the UK government. The Blues will hope that these restrictions will ease off in the coming months, permitting them to rebuild a squad that has some rather glaring weaknesses.
