Barcelona are reportedly willing to offer Sergino Dest to Bayern Munich as part of a deal to sign Robert Lewandowski in the summer transfer window.

According to SPORT, Barcelona are prepared to use Sergino Dest as a makeweight in their bid to sign Robert Lewandowski from German champions Bayern Munich this summer.

Lewandowski is entering the final year of his contract with Bayern Munich and seems headed for an exit in the upcoming transfer window. The 33-year-old is understood to be on one final big move of his career, and Barcelona have presented themselves as a potential destination for the striker.

Barcelona have been scouring the market for a prolific goalscorer who can be the marquee player that fills in the void left by the departure of Lionel Messi last year. Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund remains their top priority, but with Manchester City and Real Madrid leading the race for the Norwegian, the Catalans have shifted their focus to Lewandowski.

The Poland captain is one of the best centre-forwards in the game currently. He would be a top signing for Barcelona, who are slowly working their way back to the top under Xavi Hernandez. The Blaugrana are already negotiating with Lewandowski’s agent, with the striker reportedly demanding a three-year contract to move to Camp Nou.

However, no talks have taken place between Barcelona and Bayern Munich. A move would depend on how much the latter demand for their prized asset. Given their financial situation, Barça are already formulating ways to lower the price tag by offering right-back Sergino Dest as part of the deal for Lewandowski.

Dest is in his second season at Camp Nou after joining in 2020 from Ajax. The 21-year-old has failed to perform at the level expected, although there have been some improvements in his performances of late. Nevertheless, Barcelona are not averse to selling him in the summer and would be open to using him as a makeweight in their pursuit of Lewandowski.

Bayern Munich have previously expressed an interest in signing Dest. However, as per recent reports, the Bavarian giants are set to sign a different right-back in Noussair Mazraoui, which will come as a blow for Barcelona as they had their sights on the Moroccan international. It might also affect the Catalans’ plans to offer Dest to Bayern in the deal for Lewandowski.

It remains to be seen how the situation evolves in the coming weeks as Barcelona continue their search for a striker to lead their project into a new, successful era.
