Arsenal and Newcastle United are reportedly in contact with the representatives of Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, who will be a free agent in the summer.

According to Calciomercato, Arsenal and Newcastle United have established contact with the agents of Juventus superstar Paulo Dybala to explore the possibility of a transfer in the summer.

Dybala is in his seventh season with Juventus, having arrived from Palermo in 2015. Barring a couple of seasons when Cristiano Ronaldo was at the club, the 28-year-old has enjoyed a largely successful stint at the Allianz Stadium. He has featured 284 times for the Bianconeri, scoring 113 goals and setting up 48 more.

Dybala has been in good touch this campaign, bagging 13 goals and six assists from 39 games in all competitions. However, this will be the Argentine international’s final season in Turin as his contract runs out in a couple of months. The two parties have failed to come to an agreement over a new deal, with the forward set to be on his way out in the summer window.

It has alerted a host of clubs from across Europe, with Arsenal and Newcastle United among Dybala’s suitors. Arsenal are on the lookout for a new forward to replace former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who left the club during the January transfer window. Both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah will be out of contract at the end of the season and could be on their way out as well.

It will leave Mikel Arteta’s side thinly stretched in the attacking department. So, Arsenal are looking for a marquee forward to fill in the void in their frontline. While Dybala might not be an out-and-out striker, his pedigree and goalscoring acumen is undoubted. And his addition would elevate the quality of the Gunners’ squad.

To that end, Arsenal have initiated talks with Dybala’s agents. However, they will have to face competition from fellow Premier League club Newcastle United, who have also contacted the Argentine international’s representatives as per the report.

Newcastle United are gearing up for a huge summer transfer window under their new owners, as survival in the Premier League seems pretty much guaranteed. The Magpies are scouring the market for a marquee signing to lead their project and can find themselves a brilliant player to spearhead the new era at St James’ Park in Dybala.

But both Arsenal and Newcastle are likely trailing Inter Milan in pursuit of the ex-Palermo ace, as the Nerazzurri are already preparing a contract offer for Dybala. It will be interesting to see who comes out in the race for the Bosman signing of the Argentine international come summer.
