Barcelona and Dani Olmo are reportedly in contact with each other over a possible move in the summer transfer window.

According to reputed Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, Barcelona’s interest in Dani Olmo seems to have reignited ahead of the summer transfer window. The Catalan giants are in talks with the representatives of the 23-year-old Spanish international.

Dani Olmo spent most of his formative years with Barcelona before taking the brave decision to leave the club before turning professional. The Spaniard moved to Dinamo Zagreb, where he finished his football education before quickly becoming a key player for the Croatian outfit.

Olmo earned his big move in January 2020, when he joined RB Leipzig, where he has progressed considerably in the last couple of years. But the 2021/22 season has been difficult for the 23-year-old, who has encountered fitness issues while amassing only three goals and five assists in 18 appearances across all competitions.

But despite his struggles in the ongoing campaign, Olmo remains a highly sought-after player in the transfer market. While several clubs have pursued him, the Spanish international has been linked most heavily with Barcelona.

Barcelona had attempted to sign Olmo on the deadline day of the summer transfer window last year, but a move did not materialise as they ran out of time to see the deal through. Barcelona’s interest in the 23-year-old has not waned much in the last few months as they look to continue their squad rebuild under Xavi Hernandez.

That said, Raphinha seems to have become the priority target for Barcelona to bolster their attack, with the Blaugrana preparing an offer to secure the services of the Brazilian international. But it looks like Barcelona’s interest in Olmo remains, with the two parties currently locked in talks.

But Gerard Romero has not revealed anything more than that, so it is unclear if Olmo will become a key target again for Barcelona heading into the summer transfer window. For now, what seems to be certain is that the 23-year-old Spanish international remains on Barcelona’s radar, with the Catalan giants bracing themselves for a busy summer of chopping and changing.
