Chelsea forward Timo Werner is gunning for an exit in the summer amid interest from Borussia Dortmund.

According to Sport1, Timo Werner is not happy with how things are going at Chelsea. He has struggled to find a place for himself in Thomas Tuchel’s plans and intends to leave Stamford Bridge at the end of the season.

Chelsea are open to selling the German if they can fetch a good price for the player. The Blues currently value Werner at around €40 million, with Borussia Dortmund among the clubs reportedly interested in his services. Chelsea are even open to holding discussions over a potential move for the striker next summer.

Werner’s desire to leave Stamford Bridge primarily stems from his success under Hansi Flick. In just six games under the new German national team coach, he has scored six goals and has found his rhythm in the final third.

It has been a completely different story at Chelsea, with the striker netting just one goal in 14 Premier League appearances. His struggles have compelled him to seek a move elsewhere, with Dortmund emerging as a potential destination.

It appears the Bundesliga giants consider Werner as a potential replacement for Erling Haaland, who could leave Dortmund in the summer amid interest from Real Madrid. The Norwegian may also move to other clubs such as Manchester City or even FC Barcelona, while Bayern Munich have been involved in the equation as well.

However, a major hurdle for Dortmund in the pursuit of Werner could be his wage demands. The player currently earns a hefty €16 million per season at Chelsea, making him one of the highest-paid German players in Europe, alongside his Chelsea teammate Kai Havertz.

The Black and Yellows are also prioritising a move for Karim Adeyemi rather than focusing on Werner. Fortunately for the Chelsea frontman, he has no shortage of suitors, with even FC Barcelona entertaining the possibility of bringing him to Camp Nou next season.

Werner isn’t the only Chelsea forward to be linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge either, with last summer’s marquee signing Romelu Lukaku also unsettled at the club. The Belgian international would ideally like to return to Inter Milan, but it won’t be surprising to see him join a club like Paris Saint-Germain next season.
