Italian giants SSC Napoli are keeping close tabs on prolific Chelsea loanee Armando Broja.

According to Alfredo Pedulla on Twitter, Serie A big-hitters SSC Napoli are interested in securing the services of Chelsea loanee Armando Broja in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old came through the ranks at Chelsea after having spent earlier spells at Burnham Juniors and Tottenham Hotspur. He made his senior bow for the Blues against Everton in 2020, which remains his lone appearance for the Chelsea first team.

The Albanian moved to Southampton on a season-long loan last summer and has since thrived at St Mary’s. He has made 31 appearances for the Saints, scoring nine times and assisting once. It is not just his finishing in the box but also his overall play that has caught the attention of potential suitors.

Napoli are doing well this season and are the closest competitor to Serie A leaders AC Milan in the race for the Scudetto. While there is yet much to be played for this season, it has not prevented Luciano Spalletti’s side from chalking out their summer transfer plans in advance.

While several positions need attention, Napoli could be forced to bring in a forward given the uncertainty surrounding Victor Osimhen’s future at the club. This season, the Nigerian has been on fire, attracting attention from some of Europe’s top sides.

Newcastle United are the latest side to join the race for Osimhen, and should a deal go through, Napoli already have Broja in their sights. While the Albanian is not close to Osimhen’s level yet, he has shown enough promise to suggest that he could become a handful in the years to come.

Southampton have made no secret of their interest in making the 20-year-old’s stay at St Mary’s permanent. At the same time, Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel also appears to have been impressed by the youngster’s performances.

Capable of playing anywhere across the frontline, Broja would be an excellent addition to a Napoli side that appears to be on the up. Securing Broja will not just hand Gli Azzurri a long-term solution upfront but also give them a player capable of linking up well with his teammates and working hard off the ball.

Broja has made an impression this season, and at 20, he has a long way to go before reaching his peak. Whether he will build upon the potential, he has shown this season remains to be seen.
