Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund have reportedly been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid outcast Eden Hazard in the summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Eden Hazard is edging closer to leaving Real Madrid in the summer transfer window. The Merengues have offered Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund the chance to snap up the struggling Belgian forward.

Eden Hazard has seen his career fall apart since joining Real Madrid from Chelsea in July 2019. What was supposed to be a dream move has turned into a nightmare for the 31-year-old, who has become the shell of a player he was at Chelsea due to a spate of injuries.

The Belgian international has reached his lowest point as a Real Madrid player this season, as he has garnered only 877 minutes of game-time across 22 appearances in all competitions. And with the player’s career headed nowhere at Real Madrid, ending the troublesome stint should benefit both parties. That brings Borussia Dortmund into the picture.

The Bundesliga giants have no need for a wide-attacker, considering Marco Rose has ample options at his disposal for both flanks. But with Marius Wolf not entirely convincing and Reinier Jesus set to return to Real Madrid when his loan deal ends, a spot could open up for Hazard in the summer transfer window.

If he can rediscover his best touch, the 31-year-old can also partly fill the void that Erling Haaland will leave with his departure in the summer transfer window, with Real Madrid one of his prospective suitors. So a transfer could work out favourably for all parties involved, with Real Madrid hoping to reduce the cost of signing Haaland by selling Hazard to the Bundesliga giants.

Real Madrid’s hand has been forced by the sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich, with Chelsea unable to sign players, essentially until the club’s sale is completed. Before the setback, Real Madrid had been in talks with the Blues over a possible summer move.

As for Hazard, the presence of his brother, Thorgan, at Borussia Dortmund could convince him to move to the Bundesliga in an attempt to resurrect his stuttering career. For now, what remains certain is that the Real Madrid outcast has no future at the Santiago Bernabeu.
