Bayern Munich are the latest entrants in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, who is also a target for Real Madrid and Barcelona.

According to Fichajes, Bayern Munich are lining up a summer move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland as a replacement for Robert Lewandowski. Real Madrid and Barcelona also want the 21-year-old Norwegian international.

Lewandowski is set to enter the final year of his contract with Bayern Munich in the summer and has decided to take up a new challenge in his career, as reported by Fabrizio Romano if the club does not offer a new deal. And it seems like Die Roten are preparing for life without their prolific hitman, having identified Haaland as a replacement.

Erling Haaland is currently one of the most in-demand footballers on the planet, owing to his mesmerising goalscoring form since joining Borussia Dortmund in January 2020 from Red Bull Salzburg. The 21-year-old has plundered 80 goals and 21 assists from 81 matches for the Black and Yellows, firmly establishing himself as one of the most lethal strikers in the game.

With his €75 million release clause kicking in this year, a host of top clubs have taken an interest in him, with Barcelona and Real Madrid among the clubs keen, with Bayern Munich also now joining the queue.

Barcelona are on the lookout for a new marquee forward to lead their project under Xavi Hernandez, having lost Lionel Messi last summer. They have made Haaland their top transfer target for the upcoming window. However, recent reports had indicated that Barcelona were set to miss out on his signing, with Real Madrid and Manchester City emerging as the favourites to sign him.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, are interested in Haaland as they wish to pair him with Kylian Mbappe and form a Galactico strikeforce that can dominate the footballing scenes for years to come. While Karim Benzema is still going strong, he will be turning 35 later this year, and Haaland can be seen as the long-term heir to the French striker, while Mbappe can be used out on the flanks.

But, their pursuit of Haaland has now been complicated by the entry of Bayern Munich in the race for the Norwegian. Die Roten have raided Dortmund for their best players in the past – Mario Gotze, Mats Hummels and Robert Lewandowski, to name a few and plan to do so with the 21-year old striker again later this summer to replace the Poland captain.

However, with Manchester City believed to have a deal in place to sign Haaland, it remains to be seen if either Bayern Munich or Real Madrid have a shot at signing him in the summer. As things stand, though, Barcelona are believed to be out of the race for the Borussia Dortmund striker.
