Manchester City are reportedly prepared to rival Chelsea in the pursuit of West Bromwich Albion youngster Jamaldeen Jimoh.

According to The Sun, Jamaldeen Jimoh is increasingly becoming one of the most sought-after teenagers in England, with Manchester City joining the race to sign the West Bromwich Albion starlet. The 15-year-old is expected to leave the Baggies at the end of the season, putting a host of top clubs on red alert.

Chelsea were said to be leading the pursuit of Jimoh. But it appears they are set to face fresh competition from Manchester City, who have been watching the youngster closely and are confident of luring him to Etihad in the summer.

A central midfielder by trade, Jimoh is currently a part of the West Brom youth setup. He has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence in recent years, with many expecting him to be destined for a similar ascension as someone like Jude Bellingham.

The 15-year-old also represents the English Under-16 squad and has made quite an impression with his talents in the middle of the park. His talent and potential have not gone unnoticed either, with two of the top clubs in England reportedly keen on securing his services.

Driven by the success of players such as Reece James, Callum Hudson-Odoi and Mason Mount, among many others, Chelsea are prepared to make Jimoh the next star addition to their youth setup that has consistently nurtured talented players in the past.

However, Manchester City’s recent addition to the equation makes things complicated for Chelsea. While the Citizens have not had similar track record when it comes to integrating homegrown talents into the first-team, the club do have an excellent youth department with world-class facilities and experienced coaches.

It could be extremely useful for someone like Jimoh, who may require proper guidance and tactical versatility before he takes on the mantle of becoming a Premier League regular.

Manchester City, for their part, have not shied away from investing in young talents. In addition to Jimoh, they are notably keen on the services of Brazilian Yan Philipe, while the Sky Blues have also looked into the Argentine market for several young players, including Exequiel Zeballos and Valentin Barco.

However, it could be significantly difficult getting their hands on Jimoh, who is set to attract interest from not only Chelsea but a plethora of other English clubs. At the age of just 15, the youngster has a long way to go before he can even be considered as a proper first-team option, so it will be interesting to see where he ends up in the summer.
