Arsenal and Chelsea are reportedly among the clubs vying for the services of Paul Pogba, who could leave Manchester United next summer.

According to a report by Spanish outlet by Fichajes, Manchester United are bracing themselves for life without Paul Pogba. The midfielder’s current contract at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season, with neither party managing to reach an agreement over a new deal. It means the player is set to leave the club for free in the summer, putting multiple clubs on alert.

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly readying a lucrative offer to sign Pogba on a free transfer next summer. However, it appears Les Parisiens are set to face stiff competition from Arsenal and Chelsea in the pursuit of the Frenchman, while Newcastle United are involved in the equation as well.

Pogba rejoined Manchester United back in 2016 in an eye-catching €105 million move from Juventus. However, during his ongoing five-and-a-half-year stint at the club, the midfielder has struggled for form and fitness. While the player boasts unquestionable potential, it appears his time at Old Trafford could soon be up, as Manchester United look to the future, with Declan Rice firmly in their sights.

The Frenchman’s potential departure, though, has put Chelsea on red alert as they look to unite him with his compatriot N’Golo Kante. It is no secret that Thomas Tuchel is already in the market for reinforcements in the midfield unit, having targeted other stars such as Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice.

In Pogba, though, Tuchel could find himself a proven option who is more than capable of adding a new dimension to the club’s midfield unit. The same can be said for Arsenal as well, with the club lacking depth after a slew of departures in the January transfer window.

Especially in midfield, the Gunners have Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey and Albert Sambi Lokonga as the only reliable options. In an attempt to rectify the issue, coach Mikel Arteta is targeting a move for Boubacar Kamara, among many others. However, the Spaniard would surely favour a move for Pogba, although the club’s pursuit of the Frenchman will largely depend on whether they can secure Champions League football next season.

Nevertheless, it is fair to point out that Pogba himself favours a move away from England. With Barcelona and PSG already in contention, coupled with his struggles in the Premier League, one can hardly blame the Frenchman as he looks to take the next step in his career in the summer ahead.
