Roberto Soldado arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer with a big reputation having scored 24 league goals the previous season for Valencia. Tottenham shelled out a then club record £26m for the Spaniard in a bid to bolster their striking options and yet, only 5 league goals and seven months later, there are talks of him being shipped back to Spain. What has gone wrong with a move that looked like the perfect fit? Since his arrival in North London, the Spaniard has been below par. He managed to find the net in the opening two games of the season, scoring both the goals from the penalty spot as Tottenham scrapped their way to crucial 1-0 wins. However, since then, he failed to score in the next five games, scored two in the next two, again had a drought of seven games. His last league goal was in the 3-0 win over Stoke in the end of December […]

The Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal is adamant he will not continue with the national side after his contract expires after the World Cup in Brazil in the summer. He has hinted that he wants to manage in the Premier League and that he would be open to a fresh approach from Tottenham. Following the Euro 2016 Qualification draw, he was asked about his future post-Brazil, with Guus Hiddink set to take up the reins with Holland once again and he responded: “I will definitely not be in charge for the European [Championship qualifying] campaign,” he told reporters after the Euro 2016 qualifying draw. “I don’t know where I will go next, normally I go with my pension, go to live in Portugal, but maybe there will come a new challenge. “I have said before that a challenge should be a club in the Premier League. That’s a challenge. Maybe Tottenham are coming, but first we have to go to […]

‘Bosnian Diamond’ to Spurs? Tottenham Hotspurs have joined the chase to land City striker Edin Dzeko. The player who is a hot-topic of every transfer window is being closely monitored by Serie A clubs, notably Napoli and Milan. Goal.com reports that Spurs have expressed an interest in attaining the Bosnia international. Although, Dzeko has about one and a half years left on his contract and hence is in a strong position to negotiate a cut-price move, it is not highly unlikely that he will push for a move out of Eithad Stadium. It is also unlikely that Pellegrini will want to sell him to Premier League rivals, Tottenham. Dzeko has clearly fallen behind the ranks of Aguero and summer signing Negredo, yet he has apparently most recently been placated by Pellegrini, with the City boss likening him to Ibrahimovich. Tottenham technical director Franco Baldini is reported to have made contact with Dzeko’s representatives in the search for Tottenham attaining a domineering front […]
