Former Manchester United youth coach Paul McGuinness has told that Paul Pogba was like Pied Piper in his academy days at Old Trafford.
There is a strange resemblance between the Old Trafford of December 1970 and today. As Sir Alex Ferguson watches the side which he built get rolled over under new management, the mind wanders to a similar period in the winter of 1970. Pat Crerand said of Sir Matt Busby that “He is Old Trafford”, so there was little surprise when the Bellshill born Scot returned to manage his beloved Manchester United. The man he replaced – Wilf McGuinness, is said to have shown little appetite for the job which was then, like now, the biggest job in British football. Wilf was a Manchester lad through and through and made his debut for the Red Devils against Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1955 aged just 18.
