INTER MILAN v AC MILAN Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan Sunday 13th September, 2015, 19:45 GMT *** Inter meet AC Milan at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Serie A on Sunday evening, as they aim to prove who boasts the best squad following a hectic summer. Both Milanese giants pumped millions into the transfer market in a concerted effort to arrest an alarming slide which led to 8th and 10th place finishes respectively last term. The Rossoneri must overturn an awful recent record as the away side, having won just once in their last 10 as the visitors. It is largely agreed across Europe that Inter had one of the continent’s busiest and more impressive transfer markets, however the sheer number of incoming players and the fact that the final four arrivals all did not begin training with the squad until the start of the international break means that Roberto Mancini will certainly be facing integration issues. During pre season Milan […]

Juventus rested top players and had nothing to play for, but still conquered Inter 2-1 at the San Siro thanks to a Samir Handanovic howler. The Derby da Italia had an unusual feel to it, as Juve had already won the Scudetto and rested numerous players ahead of the Coppa Italia Final. They were fresh from earning their first Champions League Final spot in 12 years against Barcelona, so confidence was sky high. Hernanes was suspended for the hosts, plus Fredy Guarin, Jonathan, Dodo and Hugo Campagnaro injured, so Xherdan Shaqiri got a rare start. A seven-game unbeaten streak had taken Inter to within touching distance of a place in the Europa League next season and that positive trend looked set to continue when Icardi got the deftest of touches with his chest to Brozovic’s shot to divert the ball into the far corner of Marco Storari’s goal. Rodrigo Palacio had a shot saved by Storari and Xherdan Shaqiri hit […]

Following a 1-1 home draw with Cesena on Sunday, Inter manager Roberto Mancini admitted that his side will not be able to play in the Champions League next season. Mancini, who guided Inter to three back to back Serie A titles from 2005 till 2008, is in his second spell in charge of the Nerazzuri. Mancini joined the club in November, taking over the reins from Walter Mazzarri. At that point in time the San Siro outfit were ninth on the Serie A table and playing poorly. Since then, the team have improved but not enough to be competing for the Champions League spots and the former Manchester City boss admitted the same. “At the moment there’s no point talking about third place, it’s not even logical to do so.” “With a win we would’ve reached 39 points with 11 rounds to go. Now it’s going to be pretty difficult to reach third place. A win would’ve given us hope […]
