The title race got steaming hot this week with Mohun Bagan and Churchill Brothers suffering huge setbacks in their bid to win the I-League, while Dempo Sports Club and Kingfisher East Bengal consolidated their position at the summit of league standings. Here's TheHardTackle's weekly round-up...

With the first half of 2011-12 I-League campaign coming to a conclusion by the end of Round-13, Dempo managed to hang on to their top billing despite succumbing to a shocking 1-2 defeat against Prayag United. East Bengal earned a clinical 2-1 win over Air India to move to the 2nd spot just a point adrift of Dempo. This is indeed a good advertisement for Indian football as the league is getting more and more exciting with every passing game.

Dempo regained the top position in I-League table after securing a coming from behind victory against Sporting Clube de Goa in Round 11. East Bengal kept pressure on them with a comfortable 2-0 victory in Kerala while Mohun Bagan and Salgaocar lost ground after succumbing to a 0-0 draw. The biggest result in Round-11 came in Goa where Pune FC outgunned table toppers Churchill Brothers - which has made the three-way battle at the top of the table even more interesting with just a point seperating the Top-3.

The I-League has a new leader after 2 months - this round matches saw Churchill coming up with a clinical victory over HAL, who are certainly going down the ladder, to top the points table. Salgaocar dropped crucial points against Mohun Bagan which puts them on the backfoot in their title chase.
