There seems to be no end in sight for Alan Pardew’s problems at Newcastle as holding midfielder Cheick Tiote confirms he wants to leave the club during the January transfer window. Tiote has been at the club for four years now and was linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer. The 28-year midfielder has a contract which expires only in June 2017 and hence, Newcastle’s owner might not sell the midfielder unless an agreeable amount is being offered. However there is no point in holding down an obviously unsettled player in the team to ruin the morale. Tiote’s very open declaration of his desire to leave has added to Pardew’s woes as the manager is struggling to hold on to his job.
