After almost a week of tussling among the seven selected teams, Mohammedan Sporting Club and Royal Wahingdoh make the cut and get a chance to compete among the best in Indian Football when the main event would commence from the 17th September. The Final round of Second Division is about to kick-off. Eight teams will participate in final round with the top two qualifying for I-League 2011/12. Teams like Vasco, Mohammedan and Sporting Clube have tasted top level football before while the likes of Southern Samity and Royal Wahingdoh are debutantes in this level.

The six teams which qualified for the final round included some traditionally big clubs like Mohammedan and Vasco along with less fancied names like Southern Samity and Royal Wahingdoh. This was also a forgettable season in second division for each of the five Kerala teams.
