Crystal Palace Player Ratings vs Burnley: 8/10 for Benteke, Gallagher; Impressive Guehi gets 7

A rollercoaster of a game at Turf Moor ended in a scintillating 3-3 draw, as Crystal Palace kept their unbeaten run going.

Crystal Palace came into the Burnley clash high on confidence, aiming to keep their unbeaten run going with a victory. While considering the firepower available on both sides, Patrick Vieira’s side probably should have edged Burnley on paper, although the result on the pitch was different.

As expected, Palace took the lead early in the game after a good finish from Christian Benteke. Burnley soon rallied and turned the game on its head as they were quickly leading the contest. Ben Mee had equalised for the Clarets, while Chris Wood scored with a header to give them the lead.

However, the first half had plenty of twits left, as it was now Palace’s turn to mark a comeback. They did so through Benteke while Marc Guehi gave them a deserved lead four minutes before half-time.

The final twist came in the second half when Maxwell Cornet thumped a stunning effort to equalise again. The game finished 3-3, and no matter how much Vieira might have wanted the win, the Frenchman will take the draw as Palace keep their unbeaten run going. Here’s how Crystal Palace player rated against Burnley.

Vicente Guaita – 6/10

Guaita had an interesting day, as Burnley regularly threatened his goal, keeping him busy. Barring a few smart saves, he should have done better with Ben Mee’s strike, while the other two goals were out of his reach.

Joel Ward – 4.5/10

Ward had a difficult game on the right flank as Dwight McNeil gave him a tough time. The winger constantly got the better of the full-back, with his trickery and pace. Furthermore, he was guilty of allowing Cornet too much space to smash home the third goal.

Joachim Andersen- 6/10

Andersen continued his consistent performances at the heart of the palace defence. However, he should have done better in the air for the second Burnley goal as he lost the duel to James Tarkowski.

Marc Guehi – 7/10

Guehi, like Andersen, continues to grow in his role. Often a physical presence in the backline, the young defender was a progressive outlet when he had the ball. He got his first senior goal and will be disappointed it didn’t turn out to be the winner.

Tyrick Mitchell – 6/10

Mitchell was a good presence on the left flank, giving Burnley hardly a sniff on his side. Kept the attackers at bay for most periods, and he was not responsible for any of the goals his team conceded.

Cheikhou Kouyate – 6/10

A combative performance from Kouyate, who is becoming a key figure under Vieira. Pressed with effect, while breaking up many build-ups Burnley were looking to create.

Luka Milivojevic – 6/10

A standard performance from Milivojevic, who kept things ticking without doing anything outstanding, while Kouyate did the dirty work in the middle of the park.

Conor Gallagher – 8/10

Gallagher continued his top run in the Premier League with yet another eye-catching performance. He played a big role in the first goal and further got the assist for the second.

Jordan Ayew – 4/10

As expected, Ayew showed fantastic work rate but was not always actively involved in any of the attacking moves Palace conjured up on the afternoon. Still, he remains an important part of Vieira’s plans.

Christian Benteke – 8/10

A brilliant performance from Benteke, who continues to shine while leading the line. Capped off a fine display with a couple of well-taken goals to show for his hard work. This is the kind of form Vieira wants from his leading striker.

Wilfried Zaha – 6/10

Zaha rarely has a dull game, and again he was lively as a wide attacker. He kept threatening the area but wasn’t able to apply the finishing touches. He is capable of better, though, and his form will be crucial to Palace’s season.

Vieira sent on Olise to possibly find a dramatic winner, and he did fairly well after taking on the pitch.
