The Hard Tackle brings you a complete roundup of this week’s latest transfer rumours surrounding Borussia Dortmund.

The Hard Tackle’s new series of Borussia Dortmund returns this week with some of the latest transfer news and rumours flying around the Ruhrpott. This has been an equally busy week for the Black and Yellows, who, following the exploits of Erling Haaland, are looking to add more quality to their ranks.

So without further ado, let us follow the same routine of dividing this round-up into two parts – arrivals and departures. But, if you are new to this series, you should definitely take a look at the previous week edition of this Borussia Dortmund transfer-up here.

Arrivals

There have been a lot of speculations regarding the potential arrival of Emre Can to Borussia Dortmund this week. The first report comes from Kicker (via @Ballzirkulation on Twitter), who claim that the Juventus midfielder is indeed a topic at Dortmund.

However, it could be financially difficult for the club to sanction a move for the defensive midfielder, although they are hoping that the sale of Paco Alcacer would boost their budget. Indeed, Bild (via @Ballzirkulation) claims that Juventus apparently want €40 million for the services of Can, which is quite a lot for a player that has struggled with injuries and game-time since moving to Turin.

That is why Dortmund have also identified an alternative in the shape of Eduardo Camavinga. But, the Stade Rennais youngster, who is regarded as one of the most promising young midfielders in world football, is valued at around €50 million and will only be available in the summer transfer window. Dortmund’s main priority should be to sign Can this month. The German international can add the much-needed physicality as well as the experience in midfield, where Lucien Favre has appeared over-reliant on the services of Julian Brandt, especially following the injury of Thomas Delaney. Not to mention, Can would be an ideal replacement for Julian Weigl, who joined SL Benfica earlier this month.

Achraf Hakimi, meanwhile, remained coy on his future at Dortmund. The defender said, “I see myself very clearly at Borussia Dortmund. I’m just happy here. I still have a four or five-month contract here, enjoy the time and give my best. I don’t know what will happen in June, but we can talk about it in the future”. (via Bundesliga website)

And finally, Borussia Dortmund have expressed interest in Barcelona’s Carles Perez (Mundo Deportivo via Tribuna), after the winger was deemed surplus to the requirements by the newly appointed Quique Setien. However, it seems that the Spaniard is destined to join AS Roma, according to Marca. So that deal is a no go.

Departures

Alcacer is definitely someone who is expected to leave Dortmund before the end of the ongoing January transfer window. It is believed that the striker’s relationship with Favre has taken a hit and he immediately wants to depart the club. BVB apparently want €30 million for the Spaniard. (Bild via GFFN)

Bild’s Christian Falk claims that Jose Mourinho has identified Alcacer as a potential alternative, should Tottenham fail to sign Willian Jose while Newcastle United have also joined the race. A return to Valencia, meanwhile, could also be an option for the ex-Barcelona star.

Another player linked with a move away from the Signal Iduna Park is Jacob Bruun Larsen, as covered in our last segment. However, it seems that the Dane has rejected a move to Bournemouth (Bild via FT), amid links with Eintracht Frankfurt.

And finally, Olympique Lyon want to sign Manuel Akanji on loan this month. The BVB defender has struggled with form and is not highly rated anymore. As a result, the French club is keen to reinforce their defensive by signing the Swiss international. (Foot Mercato)

However, offloading Akanji could be a risky decision, with Dan-Axel Zagadou already struggling with an injury while coach Favre has appeared reluctant to hand Leonardo Balerdi the opportunity to perform at the highest stage. And with less than a week remaining till the transfer window slams shut, it could turn out to be difficult for Die Schwarzgelben to sign a viable replacement.
