Borussia Dortmund are reportedly plotting a sensational move to bring back former star Mario Gotze, who has underwhelmed at Bayern Munich after making the controversial switch.

Gotze is said to be unsettled with the fact that Carlo Ancelotti will take over at Bayern Munich next season, and may be looking for a move away from the club if he is not guaranteed regular football.

While Liverpool have been tipped to get Gotze’s signature on the dotted line, the World Cup winner’s former club Borussia Dortmund are also plotting a move for him, according to German paper Bild.

Liverpool, on the other hand, are expected to use their Jurgen Klopp connection in order to get Gotze on board and improve their creativity in the middle of the park.

Belgium-Portugal friendly rearranged

Belgium vs Italy
The international friendly between Belgium and Portugal, which was originally called off due to security reasons, has been rescheduled for next week and will be held in Portugal.

The match was originally set to be held in Brussels, but the attacks on the Belgian capital that killed more than 30 people have led to the change in plans. While the original response was to call off the match in light of the recent events, the Portuguese federation offered to host the game in Leiria [via Record].

This is the second consecutive time Belgium’s international engagement is not going ahead according to the original plans. Their last international friendly against Spain (which was also scheduled to be held in Brussels) was called off after the Paris attacks last year.

Why is Jurgen Klopp ignoring Christian Benteke?

Liverpool FC vs FC Girondins de Bordeaux
A lot was expected of the Belgian striker when he was bought from Aston Villa for £32.5 million. However, the 25-year-old has only been able to score eight goals so far this season, playing second fiddle to Roberto Firmino.

The Belgian has expressed his dissatisfaction at his lack of playing time, saying on Belgian TV channel Sporza [via the Guardian], “Some team-mates have said that I was lucky with the arrival of Klopp because I certainly would play. [But] when your coach says he wanted to take you to [Borussia] Dortmund and a little later you sit at the same club and he ignores you it is hard to understand.”

Schweinsteiger injured, Ozil misses Germany training

With two big international friendlies against England and Italy coming up, Germany have suffered a setback in the form of injuries to two key midfielders. Bastian Schweinsteiger, who has often been the driving force for Die Mannschaft, injured his knee during training, as confirmed by the German Football Federation (DFB).

The Manchester United midfielder has already missed a major part of the season with injuries, and was on the verge of a comeback when he picked up his latest knock. He has been sent for MRI scans.

Meanwhile, Schweinsteiger’s national teammate Mesut Ozil might also be doubtful for the friendly against England on Sunday, with the Arsenal man missing Germany’s last training session.
