Virgil van Dijk has issued a strong message to his Liverpool teammates, urging them to embrace and enjoy the busy period ahead in April.

At one point, Manchester City seemed to be the runaway Premier League champions for a second year running as they masterfully took advantage of dropped points from their rivals. However, Liverpool have fought back hard and have closed the gap to just a single point after their midweek victory over Arsenal.

The Merseysiders are on a nine game-winning run in the Premier League and are expected to continue performing at the highest level during the final phase of the season. Liverpool are already tipped to win the league title, meaning Jurgen Klopp’s men are in with a shout to win the famed quadruple, with the Carabao Cup already in the bag.

They face Benfica in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals and remain the undisputed favourites to reach the semi-finals. Meanwhile, they have a date with Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final.

Being part of all competitions, Liverpool are set to endure a congested fixtures list in April, with Klopp’s men playing nine key games in around 29 days. While it may be a daunting task physically, they sure have the depth to take on the challenge.

Virgil van Dijk has now issued a strong message to his Liverpool teammates to regroup after the international break and enjoy the congested fixture list. The Liverpool Echo quoted the Dutchman, wherein he asked his colleagues to embrace the challenges and thoroughly revel in the moments ahead.

Van Dijk said, “That’s something that we all want first and foremost, so you have to look after yourself, make sure you recover well, prepare well. I think one of the first things you don’t have to forget is: to enjoy it.”

“Like (against Forest); it’s something you should enjoy, these nights where you have to fight for everything. So that’s what we have to do in April as well. I think everyone, not even (just) the younger guys, everyone should enjoy it.”

“And it’s tough sometimes because you want to play as well as you can, and even (at Forest) when there were moments where we were a bit sloppy on the ball but still kept going and kept pressing, these moments always happen, and you just have to give it your all, enjoy the moment and focus on the game ahead of us. It’s good we are going to Wembley again.”

“An international break now, we have to fight for our countries in a good way hopefully, a change of scenery and hopefully everyone comes back fit and healthy.”

It will certainly be a challenge for Liverpool to perform well in all competitions, but with a leader like van Dijk spearheading the side, the Reds will certainly be confident of their chances of achieving the seemingly impossible.
