Former Manchester United man Luke Chadwick has tipped Tottenham to move for Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips.

Kalvin Phillips could be on the shortlist of every big club in the Premier League when the summer transfer window opens. Many have urged the English international to move on and further his career elsewhere.

While he has spent his entire career at Leeds United, the Whites have been keen on retaining his services and turned down a January bid from West Ham United. But recent reports claim the Hammers are prepared to table a higher offer to sign Phillips. Things could be different in the summer as several clubs are expected to join the queue for the English midfielder.

While Manchester United have been tipped to sign the 26-year-old, Phillips’s allegiance to Leeds might force him to look away from a move to Old Trafford. Liverpool are also in the mix, as Jurgen Klopp eyes a key midfielder in the summer.

Alternatively, Phillips may want to continue his stay at Leeds and has supposedly asked the club for a new contract. From a financial standpoint, the Yorkshire club could brace themselves for a big-money offer in the summer, although they might be inclined to heed the player’s wishes and extend his deal.

Meanwhile, former Manchester United man Luke Chadwick insists Phillips may not join Manchester United due to his Leeds connection and has instead tipped Tottenham to make a move for the midfielder. Chadwick told Caught Offside that the English international could develop well under Antonio Conte in the new phase of his career.

Chadwick said, “Phillips, going from reports, is ready for his next challenge. I know he’s a massive Leeds fan, he was born there, and I’m sure he’ll want to leave on the best terms possible. So he probably can’t do that by joining Manchester United.”

“I imagine he’ll move on; I’m sure there’ll be suitors. He’s made that place in the England team his own. He’s got a great passing range and is a very aggressive player out of possession, gets close to people, wins the ball back.”

“Someone like Tottenham could make sense as they continue to rebuild under Antonio Conte. I wouldn’t be surprised if he went down South, and Tottenham looks like a move that would benefit both parties.”

Whether Tottenham rival Manchester United and others in the race to sign Phillips remains to be seen. But Spurs could have a distinct advantage over the Red Devils if they decide to make their move for the Leeds United midfielder.
