Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has once again teased the possibility of PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe making the switch to the club this summer.

Speaking to his brother Felix Kroos on their podcast Einfach mal luppen, as relayed by Goal.com, Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos has hinted at PSG forward Kylian Mbappe making the switch from the French capital to the Spanish capital this summer.

Mbappe has grown into one of the biggest rising stars in the game since bursting onto the scenes at AS Monaco back in 2016. The 22-year-old has continued to make rapid strides with each passing season after having signed for PSG in the summer of 2017, winning numerous titles and trophies, along with the FIFA World Cup with France in 2018.

Widely regarded as one of the best forwards going around currently, Mbappe has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid almost every summer since his breakthrough season.

While a move is yet to materialise, this summer the speculations have only increased as the forward has entered the final year of his contract with PSG, and has shown no indication of wanting to sign an extension.

Furthermore, with Les Parisiens bringing in Lionel Messi on a free transfer, it could lead to Mbappe moving on from the club, an opinion that Real Madrid midfielder Toni Kroos also shares. The German international hinted that while Messi’s move to Paris could end up being an advantageous one for Real Madrid, as it could lead to Mbappe joining the Merengues.

“We’ll see how it all works out (Messi to PSG). Maybe the move is good for us because our biggest competitor has lost their best player. And maybe even more good things will come out of it as a result. Maybe [a player] from Paris joins us… If that (Mbappe joining Madrid) should actually happen – I don’t know – this whole Messi deal would certainly not be a disadvantage for us,” Kroos said on the podcast.

Real Madrid, despite their solid win in the opening game against Deportivo Alaves, are in desperate need of a dynamic forward like Mbappe. While Karim Benzema is still going strong, he will turn 34 in a few months. Eden Hazard has had injury issues while the rest of the attackers have just not been consistent enough.

However, signing the 22-year-old from PSG will not be easy despite his contract situation being as it is. So, it remains to be seen if Kroos’ hint over a move does materialise or whether Real Madrid have to wait till the next summer to sign Mbappe for free.
