Arsenal notched up their eleventh victory on a trot in all competitions, when they defeated Sporting Lisbon 1-0 in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.
Arsenal maintained their perfect start to the 2018-19 UEFA Europa League, as they beat Portuguese heavyweights Sporting Lisbon 1-0 at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, courtesy of a second half goal from Danny Welbeck.
Both teams came into the game with maximum points on the board after two rounds of fixtures and it looked like they were set to play out a goalless draw in what was a very low-key affair in Lisbon. However, Welbeck’s fine finish to beat Renan Ribeiro in 77th minute, sealed all three points for Unai Emery’s men, helping them strengthen their grip on the top spot in Group E.
Arsenal are on an incredible winning run now, extending to eleven matches across all competitions – their longest run of victories since October 2007. In the process, they also became the first team to beat Sporting at home in over a year. And the Gunners’ fans took to social media to celebrate their team’s brilliant streak;

Arsenal are on the longest winning run (in all competitions) of any club, in any of the top 5 European Leagues (La Liga, Premier League, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1) but you won't hear the anti-Arsenal media speak about that because it doesn't suit their agenda! #WeAreTheArsenal pic.twitter.com/8iFbrk0nLq

All over! Arsenal the first team to beat Sporting in Lisbon for 13 months.

11 wins a row is an incredible achievement. Been ages since I experienced this much joy as an Arsenal fan. Won't get carried away but Emery is really building something special. People are actually talking about our club positively again. Unai the saviour.

I think this was Arsenal's best performance under Emery. In other games we have played scintillating football in patches, but have looked shaky defensively giving up far too many chances. Here we gave a controlled & measured performance over the 90 minutes. We looked comfortable

11 wins in a row for Arsenal. Easy run? It's not as hard as it could have been, but these are Premier League and Europa League sides. We've not dropped down to division one. People seem to forget the teams beneath the top six aren't all made of part timers.

How many wins in a row now?, I've lost count… #ARSENAL

Welbeck, who came up with the all important winner, was hailed by the club’s supporters, with many taking a dig at Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku, who has scored fewer goals than the Englishman, despite having played nearly 800 minutes more football this season.
#COYG It’s no coincidence that when Torreira came on Arsenal started dominating and eventually won .. that kid is a beast . Welbeck is better than Lukaku 💪🏻😃. 11 wins in a row baby ❤️

5 goals in 5 starts for Danny Wellbeck.
Over to you Lukaku and Morata.

Do you know that Danny Welbeck, Arsenal's third choice Striker has in all competitions scored more than Manchester United first choice striker Bolingoli Lukaku?

Looooooool I said Lukaku was on Welbecks level, I take it back, I don't even know whos level Lukaku is on. Welbeck has scored more goals than Lukaku this season and Welbecks played a WHOLE 800 minutes less.

Lukaku is just a Danny Welbeck with a gym membership

Welbeck > Lukaku

Just a quick reminder that Welbeck has more goals this season than Lukaku, Suarez, Martial, Alexis, Bale, Morata, Firmino, Griezmann and Diego Costa.
