Simon Mignolet turns from zero to hero to rescue a point for Liverpool against Chelsea [Best Tweets]

Liverpool and Chelsea played a 1-1 stalemate at Anfield on Tuesday as Simon Mignolet save a late penalty to rescue a point for the Reds.

Liverpool started the match on the front foot and had the best early chance of the match, but it was Chelsea who broke the deadlock after David Luiz unleashed a spectacular, inch-perfect long range free-kick to put the Blues ahead, as an off-guard Simon Mignolet was left stranded.

Roberto Firmino inexplicably missed an great chance to level things up a few minutes into the second half, but Georginio Wijnaldum did the needful as he headed in the equaliser from James Milner’s deflected cross in the 57th minute.

Chelsea had a glorious opportunity to put the game to bed late into the match, as Diego Costa won a controversial penalty when he was tripped by Joel Matip in the Liverpool box.

However, Simon Mignolet stood up and turned from zero to hero as he thwarted Costa’s kick from the spot to rescue an unlikely point for the Reds.
