In a long rant, Roy Keane tore into Tottenham following their embarrassing defeat to Chelsea at home, labelling the clash ‘men v boys’.

Tottenham suffered back to back defeats for the first time under Nuno Espirito Santo, both to London clubs. Chelsea were the antagonists this weekend after they dismantled Spurs 3-0 in north London. Goals from Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger condemned them to this morale-sapping loss.

Despite Spurs dominating the first half, Thomas Tuchel mastered the art of substitution by bringing on Kante for the second half, which handed Chelsea total control of the game. It’s quite surprising the scoreline was only 3-0, as the Blues could have scored many more goals.

Chelsea were ruthless in their approach, especially in the second half, and gave Spurs no chance of getting anything out of the clash. It puts Santo in a difficult position, with next Sunday’s North London Derby, and a defeat in that game would put serious pressure on his head and the job.

Roy Keane gave a scathing response to Spurs’ performance, labelling the tie ‘Men V Boys’ while going on a long rant to express his displeasure at their performance. After the game, the former Manchester United captain did not hold back in his criticism of Tottenham and their players.

Keane said, “I thought Chelsea were excellent, we know what they’re about, real quality, a lot of energy, desire, men v boys. I can’t believe how poor Spurs were, but you can have an off day and lose to quality but lack of desire like we saw with the second and probably third, all the goals. Talk about putting your body on the line. The game is 90 minutes long. They done well in the first half; it doesn’t matter.

“It’s over the course of the game, you get through your difficult spells, try and survive, stay in the game. Chelsea had an amazing team; you seen it with the substitutions they brought on, pure quality. I’ve no problem with Tottenham being short of quality, even Kane’s body language today, his performance today Kane, oh my goodness.

“I’m pretty angry watching Spurs there; you talk about Football, the second goal; the difference between desire and wanting to win a football match we seen that. Tottenham players not doing the basics, I’m talking about closing someone down, putting your body on the line, that comes from within, we can criticise maybe the coach and a lot of other stuff but get to the ball, stop the shot.”

While Spurs were really bad in the second half, their first-period performance did offer some optimism. However, when Chelsea took control early in the second period, there was no stopping them.

While Keane may have been ruthless in his criticism, do you agree with what he had to say about the north London side?
