Roy Keane has fired shots at Tottenham Hotspur, labelling them not enough to be a proper test for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Speaking to Sky Sports, as cited by Express, Roy Keane has offered his thoughts on Manchester United’s recent win over Tottenham Hotspur. The former Manchester United midfielder has slammed Spurs for their lack of competence while firing a warning to the Red Devils and head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Keane’s comments came just after United’s comfortable 3-0 victory over the Lilywhites that saw them put an end to a dismal run of form, even if temporarily so. Their head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was under pressure to deliver as well, after succumbing to a humiliating 5-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool last weekend.

The Red Devils, though, had no difficulties seeing off a Tottenham side that looked all over the place, as yet another attacking masterclass from Cristiano Ronaldo led to their complete domination.

Reacting to this victory, Keane was transparent with his criticism of Tottenham. “Spurs haven’t scored many goals in their 10 games. We’ve just seen the stats there, [United had] less possession that Spurs. That’s perfect, just sit in,” he told Sky Sports.

“Once United got the first goal, it was a case of: ‘How many do we want to score? It was the perfect day for Man Utd. Go back to when I played, we always used to say: ‘It’s Spurs, we will beat Spurs.”

“They (Spurs) looked desperate. The biggest criticism I could give this Spurs team is that they were 2-0 down and had a corner after 75 minute. Man Utd took everyone back to defend the corner. Spurs kept three players back.” he added.

10 games into the new season, the defeat to Manchester United has put Tottenham in eighth place, two points behind their North London neighbours Arsenal. Keane went on to suggest that his test against Spurs wasn’t a good indicator for Solskjaer’s coaching skills and claimed that the upcoming games are going to be much tougher.

“They’re 2-0 down at home. Abysmal. Job done [for United]. But then again, the bigger game is next week against Manchester City,” said the 50-year-old, who could go ballistic about Manchester United once again, should they fail to win their upcoming games against Atalanta and City before they head into the international break.
